If you’re looking for an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime archaeological site to explore on your trip to the
Yucatan Peninsula, look no further than Tulum Ruins. This is one of the best preserved Mayan sites in
all of Mexico, and offers stunning views of the Caribbean coastline. However, there are a few things
you’ll want to know before visiting so that you make the most of your experience. In this article, we’ll
provide tips on how to get there, what to see and do at the ruins, and how to avoid common tourist
traps. Let’s get started

How to Get There:

The Tulum Ruins are located about an hour south of Cancun, and can be easily
accessed by car or bus. If you’re renting a car, we recommend taking the scenic route along the Riviera
Maya coastline – it’s definitely worth it! Alternatively, there are several tour companies that offer day trips
from Cancun or Playa del Carmen which include transportation and guided tours of the ruins site.

What to See and Do:

Once you arrive at the Tulum Ruins, there is plenty to see and do. Be sure to
walk along the wall for some amazing views of the Caribbean Sea, then explore the main
archaeological complex where you’ll find temples, palaces, and other structures dating back to the 13th
and 14th centuries. If you’re interested in learning more about this Mayan city, there are guided tours
available for a small fee (usually less than $50).

Things To Avoid:

One thing that many visitors don’t realize is that Tulum Ruins has been overrun by
tourists over the past few years; as such, it can be extremely crowded during peak seasons like spring
break or summer vacation times. It’s best if you try visiting either before or after these dates when
crowds will be much smaller and parking spaces easier to find! Make sure also not to bring any food
with you since it’s forbidden inside of the archeological area – just purchase some snacks at one of
many stands outside instead 🙂
